Combo Engraving

Flat & 3-D Combo Engraving

In these examples, you will see the sharp inside corners courtesy of the 3-D Engraving.  However, the broad areas will show the Flat Engraving.  In each case the reason for using the Combo Technique was because the letters and graphics were too wide to allow for pure 3-D Engraving.

This first one was a large sign - it used up almost a full sheet of 3/4"-thick White Acrylic.  Due to the thickness of the material, we were able to engrave quite deep.  Even so, some areas needed the Combo Engraving Technique.  This is easy to see in this close-up.  In the full view below, all the blue areas were recessed using the Combo Technique.

In these next two photos, the material is only 1/8" thick Naval Brass.  The engraved areas were given a Dark Brown Patina.

This last one was 3/8"-thick Aluminum.
