ADA Signs

ADA Signs range anywhere from ugly to utilitarian to pretty cool to WOW! One of the sad things about being strictly wholesale for most of our customers is that we rarely get to actually design the signs we make. The people who do design them don't always know what a wide variety of materials are available and applicable to ADA signs. The guidelines are pretty strict. They say the sign must be readable by persons with limited eyesight. (They're not just made for people who are completely blind!) That means that there needs to be enough contrast between the letters and the background. (This limits the color choices somewhat.) This also means that the letter style cannot be too "fancy" or script. (This limits the number of fonts we can use.) And other details must be considered, for example it wouldn't be good to put Braille on a very rough surface. All that said, though, if a designer knows the rules, has some imagination and is familiar with the available materials, the results can be very nice.
