Hand-Carved HDU Oak

Trees

We did a bunch of these trees out of 3"-thick and smaller ones out of 2"-thick HDU Foam. They were fun at first, but after ten or twenty of them it was kind of rough to force myself back out into the sun to do more. We roughed out the shape with the CNC then it was just carve and carve with my ancient Dremel. When we first bid this job I think it was for only six or eight of them. If we had known how many we would eventually do we might have sprung for the software to do the contouring with the CNC. But that was a lot of money ($8,000.00 - $10,000.00) and they would have still needed the "human touch". Our customer did all the priming and painting on them. These were done for: Signs by Design Miami, Florida Honson Chin 305-235-3800
